Steve Kramer moved to Israel with his wife and two young sons in 1991 from
Margate, NJ. After working for years in the beer distribution business in
America, Steve had several jobs in Israel before retiring in 2008. Since
1995, Steve has written a weekly opinion column for the Jewish Times of southern N.J. (www.jewishtimes-sj.com)

More...The Nalaga’at Center is a unique organisation in Jaffa Port. The Theater is home to a deaf blind acting ensemble and the two restaurants there are staffed by deaf and blind people. Steve Kramer went to see their show “Not by Bread Alone” where very few of the actors can speak but with the help of subtitles and sign language have an amazing ability to convey their thoughts and actions to the audience. The actors are very professional and many of them are both blind and deaf, touch is their most common form of communication.
